Appointments and Fees
Appointments

Our main clinic is located in the Strathlink Business Park at Brendale, opposite the Strathpine Railway station. During COVID19, we are no longer providing consultations in medical centres and are offering Telehealth options for clients. Following recovery from COVID19 we will return to work alongside our mental health trained GPs in their clinics at Brighton, Strathpine, Aspley, Narangba, Kedron and North Lakes. All appointments for existing and new clients are made through our main Strathlink Clinic. We continue to provide weekday, afterhours and Saturday appointments.

Typically, appointments are scheduled for 50 minutes, including the initial consultations and subsequent appointments. This allows a suitable amount of time for your psychologist to get to know you and your concerns, and together, determine how therapy may be able to help you.

All services are provided in accordance with the Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics and Professional Practice, and all our Psychologists are tertiary trained and registered Psychologists with AHPRA. Our Accredited Mental Health Social Worker is a member of the AASW.

Referrals & Fees

You can be self-referred to one of our Psychologists or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, or referred by a friend or family member, your GP, Psychiatrist or Pediatrician. If you have been referred by your GP and you have a current GP Mental Health Care Plan, a Medicare rebate will apply to your session. A GP Mental Health Care Plan allows you to access a Medicare rebate for up to 20 individual therapy sessions and attend group therapy sessions per calendar year. Of course you can access more than 20 psychology sessions in a year, just be mindful that after 20 sessions, you will need to access your private health or pay for sessions privately until your Medicare rebate resets on January 1st each year. We find that people get a great deal of benefit from complimenting their individual therapy sessions with additional group therapy sessions. We encourage you to fully invest in your psychological treatment by taking full advantage of your group therapy options. The cost of your appointment and the Medicare rebate will vary depending on the type of referral you have and the therapist you see.
With a current GP Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $128.40 when you see a Clinical Psychologist or $87.45 when you see a Consultant Psychologist or $77.00 when you see an Accredited Mental Health Soical Worker. Without a GP Mental Health Care Plan, you may be able to claim through your private health insurance or pay privately for your appointment. Please check with your private health insurer with regards to your rebate.

Payment is required at the time of your consulutation. We accept payment by cash, bank transfer (payment required prior to consultation), EFTPOS and credit card. With a current GP Mental Health Care Plan, Medicare rebates are processed immediately, allowing your rebate to be transferred back into your bank account following your appointment using our HICAPS machine.

Fees for neuropsychological assessments, cognitive testing and reports are not usually covered by Medicare. Fees for all neuropsychological assessments and reports will be discussed and negotiated prior to booking your assessment.

We are passionate about providing high quality, positive outcome psychological treatment for everyone in our community. Please contact us to discuss your personal circumstances.

Non-attendance and Cancellation Fee Policy

If you need to change, reschedule or cancell your appointment, we ask you provide at least 48 hours notice. If an appointment is missed, rescheduled or cancelled within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time, we may implement a cancellation fee of $55.00. Our aim is not to collect missed appointment fees, but rather to open up otherwise booked appointments and make these appointments available for clients requiring urgent assistance. This enables us to provide timely appointments for new and ongoing clients. Please appreciate that missed appointments are missed opportunities for people in need.

Should you be issued with a cancellation fee, we require payment of this account prior to further appointments being scheduled. We appreciate your respect as we implement this policy.
