We are all unique in terms of our personality, experiences and makeup, therefore, one therapeutic approach for all people is not suitable. Today's Psychology recognises this, and therefore, provides a number of effective, yet different, therapeutic appraoches for our clients.
Our Psychologists use evidence-based psychological practices when working with clients, including:
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Mindfulness-based Therapy, including Mindfulness CBT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Solution focused
Brief Interventions
Interpersonal Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
EMDR
What's the difference?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a therapy aimed at working with clients to understand, manage and change unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness-based practice helps clients in achieving calm, enhancing body awareness and in gaining a different perspective on thoughts and feelings.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT is immensely helpful for people who have strong and extreme emotions, self-harming behaviours or have suicidal thinking. DBT teaches skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress management.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy aims to help clients accept uncertainty and commit to change processes.
Solution Focused
Solution focused therapy provides a practical and solution oriented approach to therapy. This involves goal setting and determining the steps required to achieve your identified goals.
Brief Interventions
Brief interventions or time limited therapy aims to educate clients about their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, providing information and suggestions for change. This may entail a single session, or a number of sessions.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing therapy has been found to be effective in addressing trauma, including PTSD. This structured therapy focuses directly on a traumatic memory, and is intended to change the way that the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing and eliminating the problematic symptoms.
Individual and Couples Therapy
Today's Psychology provides individual psychological therapy for children, teens, adults and older adults. Our psychologists also provide marriage and couples therapy, and by arrangement, family therapy is also available.
Psychological Assessments, Cognitive and Intelligence Testing
Several of our psychologists also provide psychological testing and assessment, including intelligence testing, developmental assessments and vocational assessments for children, adults and older adults. All enquires and bookings for assessments are made through our Adminstration team on: 0466542722.
